Blues win third straight in blowout over Mystic
The Blues remained undefeated and picked up their first road victory in a dominant 12-1 win over the Mystic Schooners.
The Blues won their third straight game to improve to 3-0 on the season and also picked up their first road win as they defeated the Mystic Schooners by a score of 12-1.
Bristol scored two runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, Antonio Ducatelli (Central Connecticut State University) doubled to add on one more in the second, and Mason Breton (Long Island University) followed it up with a two-run home run in the third to make it a 5-0 Blues lead.
Another two runs were tacked on in the sixth inning and Bristol exploded for five more in the eighth to make it 12-0. Mystic got on the board in the bottom of the eighth but the deficit was too large to overcome and the Blues won by a final score of 12-1.
On the mound, Kyle Peters (UConn) picked up the win and threw four shutout innings, allowing only three hits and two walks. Hudson Cavallo (West Virginia University) took the Blues the rest of the way, striking out seven, allowing three hits and two walks.
The Schooners struggled to keep Bristol off the base path as they issued 11 walks and the Blues made them pay for it. The Blues scored their 12 runs on just 11 hits and capitalized when runners were on. The Schooners defense didn't help either as they had two errors that allowed runs to score as well.
The Blues will return to Muzzy Field on June 6th and look to extend their win streak to four games and stay undefeated on the season. Bristol will also look to get revenge as they host the Martha's Vineyard Sharks who eliminated the Blues in the first round of the playoffs last season. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
