Blues secure second win against Blue Sox
The Bristol Blues won at Muzzy against the Valley Blue Sox, 5-3. The Blues secured their second win over the Sox this season, bringing the season record to 5-7.
Justin Silverstein (High Point University) got things started on the mound for the Blues, striking out a Blue Sox batter. In the top of the second, Silverstein recorded two more strikeouts against the Blue Sox. Silverstein finished the game by allowing only three runs and one hit while striking out six.
The Blue Sox scored a run at the top of the third, but the Blues quickly responded with four runs, including a two-run home run by Antonio Ducatelli (Fairfield University). Ducatelli's home run was the first of the season at Muzzy Field. Later in the inning, JJ Romatzick (University of Hartford) walked, advancing Scott Gell to second, Nick Francuzenko (Towson University) to third, and Chris DiPrima to score. The Blues' third run of the game came on a sacrifice fly to left field by Trent Rice, leaving Francuzenko to score and making the score 4-1.
The Blues were not done yet. Nick Flores (Virginia Commonwealth University) struck again, scoring the Blues' fifth run after Francuzenko singled to the middle.
Thomas Galusha (Bryant University) ended the top of the ninth on the mound with a strikeout, sealing the deal for the Blues.
The Blues are back on the road for their next game against the North Adams SteepleCats. The Blues will face the SteepleCats on June 19th at 6:30 at Joe Wolfe Field. The Blues return to Muzzy Field on June 23rd at 6:30 to play the Sanford Mariners for Heart Disease Awareness Night.
