The Blues defeated the Valley Blue Sox 4-2 to go on their longest win streak of the season.
The Blues won their fourth straight game over the Valley Blue Sox to improve to 10-8 on the season and are now on their longest win streak of the season.
In the top of the third, Bristol loaded the bases with nobody out but could only get one run out of it. Ryan Maggy (West Virginia) singled into right field in the fifth inning to add on to the lead and make it a 2-0 game.
Valley responded in the bottom of the fifth with a Trey Spees (Western Carolina) double to get the Blue Sox on the board. Bristol bounced right back in the top of the sixth when Nick Flores (VCU) had a bases clearing double to extend the lead to 4-1. The Blue Sox cut the lead to two when Chris Crason (Stony Brook) doubled for his second hit of the game. However, the Blue Sox didn't have a response for Samuel Schmidt (Jacksonville State). He struck out the side in the ninth to pick up the save as Bristol picked up the 4-2 win.
Ty Davis (Bryant) and Alex Hwang (Yale) combined for 7.1 innings allowed just five hits, struckout seven and allowed just two runs. The Blues pitching staff has been their strong point this season. The Blues have a 3.93 team ERA and haven't allowed more than five runs in their last seven games.
The Blues will look to keep the win streak going against the Newport Gulls who are only half a game ahead of the Blues in the South Division standings. First pitch against the Gulls is set for 6:30 p.m. at Muzzy Field on June 27 and can be streamed on ESPN+.
