Bristol bashes North Shore in 14-2 vicotry

Bristol picked up their third consecutive win with a dominant 14-2 victory over the North Shore Navigators to split the season series 1-1, and improve to 17-18 on the year. 

The Blues jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings and never looked back. The Navigators got on the board with a Grant Hunter (Binghamton) solo home run in the bottom of the third. However, that was the only run Scout Updike (Jacksonville) surrendered in his four innings pitched. Cal Chance (UMass Lowell) doubled, and Evan Menzel (UConn) singled to add on two more runs in the fifth and push the lead up to four runs. 

North Shore cut the lead back to three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Blues got it right back in the top of the sixth. Then the seventh inning happened, despite only four hits in the inning, Bristol broke the game open with eight runs to make it 14-2 which was the final score. 

Nine different Blues recorded a hit in the game and three had multi-hit games. Bristol finished with 16 hits, three of which came from Cal Chance who finished a home run shy of the cycle. While the offensive explosion is the biggest headline from the game, credit should also be given to the Blues pitchers (Updike, Glickman, Ruditzky, Dooley, Diaz)  who combined for 11 strikeouts and allowed only seven hits. 

Bristol is back to one game under .500 and are back at Muzzy Field on Sunday to take on the Martha's Vineyard Sharks who currently have the best record in the NECBL. First pitch is at five p.m.
