Blues earn back-to-back at home wins to start the season
The Blues have second at home win against the Vermont Mountaineers
After winning the opening night game against the Ocean State Waves, the Blues definitely carried that momentum into Friday night's game against the Vermont Mountaineers, defeating the Mountaineers 6-5 at the historic Muzzy Field.
Ty Davis (Bryant) was dominant on the mound in his start with the Blues. Davis ended the night with four strikeouts. He struck out in each of the first three innings and then, in the fifth, struck out again, bringing his total to four.
Davis wasn't the only one who had a night. Catcher Scott Gell (Stony Brook) was on fire all game. While the Blues were down two at the top of the second, a speed-of-lightning pass from Gell helped Westin Boyle (Purdue) tag a Mountaineer. Three innings later, Gell struck again with another pass, this time to Colin Crowley (Winthrop) at third base, to tag a different Mountaineer.
Christopher DiPrima (Yale) had a single RBI and a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Boyle to advance to third and Nicholas Francuzenko to score, closing the score to a one-point game.
The Blues extended their lead when Ducatelli singled to right center, advancing Jack Balcer to third and scoring Evan Menzel and DiPrima, making the score 6-5. In the final three innings, the Blues did not allow the Mountaineers to score. The Blues had six different players score, securing their second win of the season at home.
